New York, NY (July 11, 2023) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is proud to announce that it has once again been recognized by the Disability Equality Index® (DEI), the leading non-profit resource for disability inclusion worldwide, as one of only seven law firms to earn the “2023 Best Places to Work for People with Disabilities” designation. Being named “a best place to work” is a testament to the firm’s enduring pledge to foster comprehensive inclusivity in our working environments.
“Completing the DEI has become an integral resource in how EBG continues to advance its disability initiatives. The DEI has proven to be instrumental in providing guidance and feedback towards evaluating the Firm’s disability initiatives. In addition, the DEI provides EBG with the necessary tools to measure the Firm’s results and communicate the same to senior management. As disability awareness and related initiatives continue to be an important part of our Core Values, we will continue to complete the DEI to keep the Firm informed of changes and recommendations that can enhance these efforts,” said Thalia Bowen, EBG Diversity Manager. Thalia works to coordinate, promote, and support firm-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
In 2022, EBG highlighted disability awareness by honoring Judith (Judy) Heumann, an internationally recognized leader in the disability rights community, with its “Make a Difference” Award at the firm’s 2022 Diversity Reception.
About the Disability Equality Index®
The Disability Equality Index (DEI) is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality. Each company receives a score, on a scale of zero (0) to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion.”
The DEI is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, the global business disability inclusion network, to collectively advance the inclusion of people with disabilities. The organizations are complementary and bring unique strengths that make the project relevant and credible to corporations and the disability community. The tool was developed by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates. Learn more at: portal.disabilityin.org.
