Stamford, CT (January 5, 2015) – The national law firm of Epstein Becker Green is pleased to announce that Deborah DeHart Cannavino has joined as a Member of the Firm in the Employment, Labor, and Workforce Management practice. She will be based in the firm’s Stamford, CT, office.

Ms. Cannavino, who has been practicing labor and employment law for more than two decades, joins Epstein Becker Green from Littler. She represents clients in a wide variety of workforce matters, including the defense of employment and housing discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract, and common law tort claims.

“Debbie brings a broad practice and wealth of knowledge in labor and employment matters to our firm, and she is an excellent addition to our growing team,” said David W. Garland, Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Steering Committee. “Our clients will benefit from her strong background, exceptional skills, and decades of experience in handling sophisticated labor and employment legal issues for employers.”

Among her notable career accomplishments, Ms. Cannavino was appointed by the U.S. Department of State to the 2001 and 2002 United States delegations to the International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, where she represented the U.S. employer position in the Application of Standards and the Resolutions Committee. In 2004, she was appointed as an expert on workplace violence by the International Organization of Employers and represented U.S. business interests in developing an international code of practice, which was subsequently adopted by the International Labor Organization.

Ms. Cannavino frequently speaks on employment-related topics, such as preventing and investigating complaints of sexual harassment, ensuring effective employee discipline, accommodating employees with disabilities, conducting pre-employment inquiries, and avoiding discrimination complaints. She is the former President of the Fairfield County Bar Association and serves as the current President of the Fairfield County Bar Foundation.

“We are delighted to have Debbie join our team,” said Peter M. Stein, Member of the Firm and Managing Shareholder of the Stamford office. “She is a talented, well-liked, and experienced management-side employment attorney who will add breadth to our Stamford team.”

Ms. Cannavino said, “Epstein Becker Green has a strong track record of success in handling nearly every aspect of employment, labor, and workforce management issues, for companies both large and small who operate in a number of different industries.
