Washington, DC (May 16, 2017)Epstein Becker Green is pleased to announce that Andrew Beeler was awarded the Robert D. Reif Fellowship in Legal Ethics and Professional Values at a reception at the Firm’s Washington, DC, office on May 4. Epstein Becker Green created the Robert D. Reif Fellowship in 2012 with the assistance of American University Washington College of Law. The mission of the Fellowship is to honor the memory of Epstein Becker Green’s longtime partner Bob Reif by furthering his commitment in the practice of law to maintaining the highest level of ethical standards and professionalism in dealing with clients, fellow attorneys, and the community.

After a review of essays submitted on topics involving legal ethics and professional values, three finalists were interviewed, and Mr. Beeler, a third-year law student at American University Washington College of Law, was chosen by the Selection Committee to receive the Firm’s fourth Fellowship award. Mr. Beeler’s paper is titled “The Black Box of Lawyers Assistance Programs: Explaining the Need for Special Advocates for Impaired Attorneys.” Mr. Beeler presented an overview of his paper at the reception. 

The Firm also congratulates finalist Vidya Dindiyal for submitting “Ensuring Due Process Rights and Fair Access for Society’s Most Vulnerable Low-Wage Workers: What Are Defense Counsel’s Ethical Obligations with Regards to Communications with Potential Class Members?” and finalist Sarah West for her paper titled “Locating a Conflict of Interest in Local Prosecution of Prison Officials.”
