New York, NY (March 12, 2024) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce that Briar McNutt has joined as a Member of the Firm as part of the Employee Benefits team in EBG’s Employment, Labor & Workforce Management practice, in New York. McNutt’s arrival continues to broaden the firm’s benefits capabilities, most recently expanded with the addition of a five-attorney employee benefits and executive compensation group in EBG’s Pittsburgh office.
McNutt focuses her practice on issues arising at the intersection of employment benefit plans and securities offerings, as well as in corporate governance and corporate transactions.
“There is a significant and growing demand for top attorneys who can advise businesses on issues impacting the administration of employee compensation and benefit plans and arrangements,” said Tzvia Feiertag, a Member of the Firm and Chair of EBG’s national Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice. “Briar not only is a dynamic attorney who can play a crucial role in continuing to meet these demands but also fits perfectly within the team and its long-term strategy.”
Other recent additions to the Employee Benefits team have included Member Jeb Gerth in Nashville and Senior Counsel David Diaz in Washington, DC.
“Briar’s practice—which spans executive compensation, corporate, securities, and transactional work—provides valuable counsel at key inflection points in a business’s life cycle,” said David W. Garland, a Chair of the firm’s national Employment, Labor & Workforce Management Steering Committee. “She is a first-rate attorney whose distinctive and focused experience will allow us to better prepare clients as they make crucial decisions and execute their business strategies.”
She advises on compliance with federal and state securities laws in offering equity-based incentive compensation to executives and employees. For publicly traded and closely held companies, McNutt designs and counsels on all types of equity compensation arrangements, such as incentive stock option and nonqualified stock option plans, restricted stock, restricted stock units, performance units, and stock appreciation rights plans. She also provides guidance on executive compensation issues in corporate transactions.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to join a deeply capable and focused group in EBG’s Employment, Labor & Workforce Management practice,” said McNutt. “EBG’s wide footprint and excellent reputation—especially within the firm’s thriving Employee Benefits team—span far across the country, and I’m committed to finding new ways to maximize value for my current clients while adding my skills to the firm’s current toolkit.”
Her clients range from multinational companies to entrepreneurs to startups in a wide range of service areas. With a broad transactional skill set, she counsels corporations offering global supply chain and logistics services in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries through a variety of business transactions and drafts and negotiates distribution, supply, packaging, clinical trial support, and other service contracts.
