For the 13th consecutive year, Epstein Becker Green has earned Silver Level recognition from the District of Columbia Access to Justice Commission for supporting local legal services organizations through the 2025 Raising the Bar in D.C. campaign.

This year, the Access to Justice Commission recognized 32 law firms across the District for their substantial financial support for local civil legal services organizations. Collectively, these firms contributed $5.83 million in 2025, funding that proves essential as grant programs face cuts. Epstein Becker Green is honored to stand alongside its peers in this work.
What This Recognition Means
Our support for legal services organizations directly serves D.C. residents facing life-altering challenges, including eviction, domestic violence, loss of public benefits, and consumer fraud. Many of these individuals have nowhere else to turn. By contributing to organizations that provide free or low-cost legal representation, we help ensure that financial hardship does not mean forfeiting access to the legal system.
Supporting Our Community’s Needs
The District has faced federal funding cuts in recent years, and operating costs for legal services providers continue to rise. At the same time, client demand is at record levels: one DC-based legal aid provider served 924 clients in 2025, more than double the 490 it served in 2024. These organizations rely on private bar support to retain talented staff, expand proven programs, and recruit and mentor volunteer attorneys to extend their reach.
An Investment in Our Legal System
We see our financial support for legal services as an essential investment in a functioning legal system. When vulnerable individuals lack access to counsel, the entire legal system suffers.
We are grateful to the D.C. Access to Justice Commission for this recognition, and we encourage colleagues and clients to learn more about the campaign.

About the Raising the Bar in D.C. Campaign
To meet the urgent need for increased funding for legal services, the D.C. Access to Justice Commission formally launched the Raising the Bar in D.C. Campaign in December 2010, with the endorsement of the D.C. Bar Foundation and the D.C. Bar. The Campaign’s goal is to substantially increase financial support to the District’s legal services community by establishing benchmarks for law firm giving and annually recognizing and celebrating those firms that have donated at benchmark levels.
