Overview

Chris Page McGinnis is a dedicated litigation attorney and advisor who applies a client-focused and practical approach to skillfully guiding companies from a variety of industries to successful resolutions of employment litigation and disputes.

Chris regularly litigates complex discrimination, retaliation, and failure-to-accommodate claims in both state and federal courts, as well as before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state civil rights agencies. He also has experience litigating wage and hour claims, including class and collective actions, as well as representing employers in private arbitrations regarding an array of issues.

In addition to his focused litigation work, Chris reviews and drafts employment policies and procedures, employee handbooks, employment agreements, and confidentiality, non-disclosure, and non-competition provisions. He also advises employers on issues arising under state and federal employment laws and regulations, including by providing employee trainings.

While in law school, Chris completed the University of Nebraska College of Law’s labor and employment and civil litigation specialized curriculum programs and worked as a senior certified student attorney in the civil clinic. Chris also served as vice chair of the Nebraska Moot Court Board and competed in the National Moot Court competition in New York City.

Experience

  • Successfully defended a decision granting summary judgment on an age discrimination claim for a national health system in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
  • Obtained a decision fully granting a motion for judgment on the pleadings on discharge without cause and age discrimination claims for a national health system client.
  • Won complete summary judgment for a hospital client in a federal suit alleging claims of race and age discrimination pertaining to an employee’s social media activity.
  • Successfully defended an international manufacturing company against claims of race, disability, and sex-based discrimination and retaliation by a former employee before the EEOC.
  • Won a motion to dismiss for a health system client in a federal suit alleging wrongful termination under the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act.
  • Sought reconsideration of a state civil rights agency’s finding of probable cause for disability and age discrimination and retaliation, resulting in the overturning of the decision based on the agency’s misreading of relevant collective bargaining agreement terms.
  • Obtained a full summary judgment in state court for a hospital client on a former employee’s disability discrimination, retaliation, and aiding and abetting claims.
