Victoria Sloan Lin is a strategic employment law attorney and trusted advisor to global financial institutions and multinational corporations, known for her leadership in complex internal reviews, investigations of sensitive misconduct allegations, and high-stakes compliance challenges.

Serving as Co-Chair of Epstein Becker Green’s Investigations cross-practice working group, Victoria leads workplace investigations that encompass allegations of harassment, physical and sexual assault, bullying, discrimination, retaliation, trade secret misappropriation, policy violations, hostile work environments, and other forms of inappropriate conduct. She combines rigorous methodology with a nuanced understanding of evolving legal and industry trends, ensuring that her work adheres to best practices and delivers clear, actionable results that support effective organizational decision-making. By identifying issues early, assessing risk, and helping organizations address concerns before they escalate, her investigations play a critical role in preventing systemic problems, strengthening workplace culture, and reducing the likelihood of costly disputes and litigation.

In addition to her investigations work, Victoria brings broad and sophisticated experience in litigation and dispute resolution on behalf of employers. She defends employers in federal and state courts and before arbitration tribunals, including FINRA, JAMS, and AAA, where she represents clients in matters involving employee misconduct, breach of contract, compensation disputes, and other employment-related claims. Her FINRA arbitration experience includes leading teams in defending large financial institutions in complex employment and compensation arbitrations, including matters involving deferred compensation, bonuses, and related contractual disputes.

Victoria also represents employers in administrative proceedings and mediations before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New York State Division of Human Rights, and the New York City Commission on Human Rights, helping clients navigate investigations and resolve charges efficiently.

Experience

  • Investigated over 150 internal workplace complaints related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, hostile work environment, discrimination, retaliation, bullying, other inappropriate behavior, failure to accommodate, and unequal pay, with an emphasis on limiting business disruption while achieving a thorough analysis of the facts and prompt resolution. These included:
    • allegations of sexual harassment and assault at a private equity firm, producing in-depth reports that informed leadership decisions and enhanced workplace policies;
    • a series of investigations for nonprofit organizations regarding complaints of bullying and retaliation, providing strategic guidance to improve organizational culture and compliance;
    • concerns regarding a hostile work environment and retaliation at a retail company, delivering actionable insights to mitigate risks and foster a more inclusive workplace;
    • allegations of bullying at a legal services organization, ensuring a fair and thorough process that upheld the integrity of the workplace; and
    • investigations for a media company, including complaints submitted from outside the organization, providing clear and thorough findings to support organizational decision-making and policy improvements.
  • Conducted cross-border investigations with awareness of business and privilege considerations.
  • Provided workplace investigations training to human resources personnel and presented Continuing Legal Education seminars on investigations and arbitration best practices.
  • Led a team of attorneys defending a global institution in dozens of employment-related FINRA arbitrations arising out of complex business and compensation matters, including deferred compensation, bonuses, promissory notes, and defamation claims.
  • Handled arbitrations at FINRA, JAMS, and AAA, including statutory discrimination, breach of contract, and compensation-related claims.
  • Litigated the statutory interpretation of the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act.
  • Defended employers in matters brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the New York State Human Rights Law, and New York City discrimination laws in federal and state courts.
  • Defended employers against EEOC and local administrative charges.
  • Performed employment-related due diligence of acquisition targets on behalf of financial services and manufacturing companies.
  • Advised employers on offer letters, as well as arbitration, confidentiality, separation, reduction-in-force, and other employment agreements.
